The way the ball feels coming off the putter face is determined by both the material used and the pattern milled into the face. Harder materials like stainless-steel will obviously result in a firmer feel than a soft metal like copper. For the mill pattern, less material contacting the ball at impact will result in a softer feel. That’s why our fly-mill pattern, which removes the most material in the machining process, will feel softer than a smooth face where no material is removed. Use the graphics above to determine which material and mill pattern you prefer. For reference, the stainless-steel smooth face is our firmest feeling insert while the copper fly-mill is our softest insert.
